Installation
Windows
- Download the My Secure Backup installer to your hard drive and run it.
- After installation completes, the application will start and display the
configuration screen.
- Proceed through the Initial
Setup and Configuration.
Mac
- Download the My Secure Backup installation file. Your web browser should
automatically open the drive image and place the application on your desktop or
in your Downloads folder.
- Double-click the installation file to launch it. A configuration screen will
appear the first time.
- Proceed through the Initial
Setup and Configuration.
Linux
- Download the My Secure Backup installation TAR file and extract the TAR file
to a local directory.
- Run the executable. A configuration screen will appear the first
time.
- Proceed through the Initial
Setup and Configuration.
- Once you have configured My Secure Backup, it will continue running in the
taskbar. If you restart your computer, you will need to restart the My Secure
Backup application.
- To connect to My Secure Backup in KDE, just open a Konquerer window and type
"webdav://localhost:2667/". In GNOME select "Connect to Server" under the
"Places" menu. Set the Service type to "WebDAV (HTTP)". Enter "localhost" for
the server and "2667" for the port.
- You can also mount My Secure Backup as a standard file system using DAVfs.
Download, compile, and install DAVfs, then mount My Secure Backup by running:
mount.davfs http://localhost:2667 /mnt/MOUNTPOINT -o nolocks
- Note: To allow mounting as a non-root user, you will need to add the mount
point to your /etc/fstab file.
- A command-line-only version of the application is also included, see the
INSTALL file included with the download for more information.
- My Secure Backup attempts to locate your web browser automatically when
clicking links in the software. If it does not find your preferred web browser,
simply create a symlink to your browser named ~/.mysecurebackup/browser
